Welcome to Bedford Public School

Welcome to Bedford Public School in Stratford, Ontario.  We located just north of the Avon river near the famous Stratford Shakesperean Festival Theatre.  We are a JK to grade 6 School offering an English stream programme for neighbourhood students and a French Immersion programme for students in and around Stratford beginning in grade 1.  “Two Paths, One Vision, Quality Education for All.” In September of 2013 our French Immersion stream will be divided and shared with a second French Immersion site which is being established at Anne Hathaway Public School, 77 Bruce St.

The focus for the school in the upcoming 2012-2013 academic year will continue to be in 21st Century collaboration and Productive Group Work.  In our connected society we will be focusing on the importance of teamwork and building positive interdependence through individual and group accountability.  Guided  reading will also be a focus in helping students “snap” questions to better understand what is being asked of them and to analyze what they read.  We will also be introducing some online practice with Mathletics, a networked internet math site.

We have a great team of teachers at Bedford who provide many opportunities for our students to be involved in sports and team activities, the Arts, and citizenship.  We are the recipients of a Silver award this year for Eco-schools involvement and intend to strive towards improving our level of effective environmental practices this upcoming year.  Our Bedford Bulldog’s Events board is quickly filled with a variety of activities, visitors and events that highlight our well-rounded citizens and our Whole School Bedford Bulldog Spirit.

Our School Council is a proactive and dynamic group of parents who are interested and involved in all aspects of their children’s experience at school.  They provide support with time, energy and money for such enriching experiences as a Fall Harvest Gathering, weekly lunches, Electives day, Technology and Arts promotion as well as an annual Fun Fair.  There are many parent volunteer opportunities at the school as well and we welcome parents’ participation in supporting the school community’s experience.  Positive energy is contagious.

As parents and educators we are privileged to witness and guide the development of our future leaders and citizens of the global community.  Bedford Bulldogs are looking forward to another great year together of making memories, growing stronger and more knowledgeable and making a difference!
